Will Fall Weddings Be Cancelled?

With the Delta variant (and now Lambda variant) causing COVID-19 cases to rise, it’s difficult to say whether what happened in Spring 2020 will happen again with Fall weddings in 2021. Truthfully, we don’t know if fall weddings will be cancelled or not. We could go into another lockdown and face renewed restrictions, or things could stay the same. If you’re worried, that’s okay. We’ve built out a three-step process that will help you plan in case your wedding can’t happen this fall and you have to postpone, reschedule or downsize your wedding.

1.     Talk to Your Vendors. When you booked your vendors, you should have seen a cancellation clause or postponement policy in your contract. Go back over that and familiarize yourself with it. Additionally, talk to your vendors. See what you can do if you do need to postpone your wedding or lower the number of guests.

2.     Build a Contingency Plan. Just like most people have a rain plan, lots of couples are now having a COVID plan. Talk to your vendors about your options, then put your plan in place.  You might even have A, B and C back up plans, considering the way things have so rapidly changed with the pandemic.  The important thing is to ask yourself what you’ll do in case any situation arises that will change your day. Consider the likely scenarios and how you’ll respond to them.

3.     Consider Other Options. Let’s say things do get more serious. It’s important to consider the option that you might need to postpone, cancel or change your plans.  Lucky for you, you saw people in March 2020 get creative and you have ideas to work with. Some people had an intimate backyard wedding and opted to move their large reception out to celebrate their marriage at a later time. Others chose to hold off entirely and rebook their vendors. Some said to heck with it all and had a courthouse wedding. There is no right answer, only what is best for you and the person you love.

If worrying about whether people can attend a fall wedding has left you stressed, we get it. This has been such a difficult time for everyone, but especially couples getting married. LoveStream was created with you in mind – our service exists because people like you needed a way to connect with their guests safely. If you still want to celebrate with others, we’ve got you!
