Wedding RSVP cards are highly important for the planning and flow of your wedding. There are key things that should be included to ensure you have the correct guest count and information about each! We’ve compiled the perfect list that will keep them short, sweet and to the point, ensuring for a smooth planning process and day of!

Guest Name

First item to include on your card is a line for who will be attending. Formally, the line starts with an “m”, indication to the guest to fill out the rest of “mr.” or “mrs.” or “ms.” with their name. Non-formally, you can just leave a blank line. Or alternatively, if you are concerned about guests mistakenly including kids or a plus one, you can write their names on the line already.

Response

Secondly, you’ll need to include a line for acceptance or regrets. A short line will indicate to the guest to mark one or the other. Wording for this can range in style. Simply putting “accepts” or “regrets” is acceptable, however some people change it up. For a wedding that’s also offering a live streaming component, you can offer “Accepts”, “Regrets” and “Will join virtually”.

Meal Choice

Next is an area to indicate dinner choice. This only applies if you are serving a sit-down dinner. You’ll state which proteins are available, give a vegetarian and/or vegan option depending on your choice, and have guests indicate their preference. You should have your guests indicate choice by initialing, making it possible to sort out who wants what when dealing with more than one person. You may also have other meal types to deal with you have any guests with allergy, gluten sensitivities, kosher or other religious requirements. Putting this on your RSVP card can open a can of worms, so we suggest reaching out to those guests you know have serious needs. If anyone else has a concern, typically they would reach out to you anyways.

Due Date

Lastly, you’ll need a sentence to indicate when you expect the RSVP by. Having your final guest count for catering and venue pulled together in a timely manner is very important. Most will give you a date you are required to give them a number by. As a rule, you’ll want to give yourself time to reach out to those who did not RSVP back. If not everyone responds, that’s okay. Check out this article here where we talk all about it!

Something Fun

Now, for the fun stuff! If you have a DJ with a major music mix, you can have a section of your RSVP for guests to request a song! This is a fun way to make your wedding interactive and really please the crowd!
