Our New Year’s Wedding Resolutions

We are just hours away from 2021! Can you believe it? While we can collectively agree that 2020 was a bit of a wash, we hope you are looking forward to 2021. For those who are newly engaged or who postponed their 2020 weddings to 2021 – or those who might get engaged soon! – we want to share a few of our own New Year’s resolutions related to weddings. We hope you’ll join us!

Keep Dating Each Other

Wedding planning can become a full-time job. Don’t forget to keep “dating” your partner. Romance each other and remember there are other things to talk about than the wedding.

Make Backup Plans

2020 taught us that the best-laid plans often go awry. So, this year, commit to making backup plans. Make a backup plan for the backup plan! You just don’t know what the world will hold on wedding day, so have a way for guests who can’t make it to your wedding to celebrate (hint: that’s something our virtual wedding platform can help with).

Talk About the Wedding Budget

Commit to having those hard budget conversations early. If you always thought your parents would pay for your wedding, 2020 might have eaten into their savings. Or perhaps you or your partner were laid off due to the pandemic and your financial situations may have changed dramatically. So, have that conversation up-front with anyone involved, figure out how much you have to spend and be sure to keep an eye on that budget.

Consider A Smaller Wedding

Most couples who postponed their 2020 weddings are re-evaluating their guest lists in 2021. A small wedding not only helps with that pesky budget, but it also gives you the opportunity to really spoil those who mean the most to you.

Remember that the Date Doesn’t Matter

In 2020, people had their hearts set on October 10th. Why? Because 10/10/2020 is a really cool and unique date. But a date is just a number on the calendar. Couples in 2021 are going to have a lot of competition for wedding dates from those who postponed their weddings due to the pandemic. So, if you don’t get the exact day that your heart is set on or if all the Saturdays are booked up at your dream venue, try to not fret. The important thing is that you’re getting married!
