Spring Wedding? Here Are Some Important Reminders!

Punxsutawney Phil may have just predicted 6 more weeks of winter, but Staten Island Phil (yep, that’s another famous season-predicting groundhog!) claims we’ll have an early spring. Whichever rodent is right, one thing is certain: spring weddings will be here before we know it.

Will COVID affect spring 2021 weddings?

While many hoped that the virus would be gone by now, unfortunately, even with the emergence of new vaccines, that many regions will still have strict COVID restrictions in place through spring and into early summer.

Plan to have backup options for your extended guest list (like a virtual wedding, obviously!) and be sure to keep all invitees updated on how your 2021 wedding will progress.

Prepare for Competition

Many 2020 couples rescheduled their weddings for early 2021. That means there’s going to be a lot of competition for everything from wedding venues to tablecloth rentals. Ensure that all of your rentals and vendors are secured, like, yesterday. This includes things you may have been waiting to book until you were closer to the wedding date, such as a tent in case of rain or florals until you knew how many tables you’ll have.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

We know it’s been said a million times before, but this year, don’t sweat the small things that might happen before or during your wedding. Like, maybe you postponed your fall 2020 wedding to this spring, but your dress is a “fall wedding dress.” That’s okay! Don’t even worry about it a little bit. Celebrate that you are getting married, despite a wild year.

Gather Your Final Guest Count

It’s getting closer to the big day, so make sure you know what your final guest count will be. Don’t simply rely on RSVPs that were sent in months ago. Check in with your guests (or delegate this task to a wedding party member!) to confirm who will be coming and who might have decided to stay home due to travel or gathering concerns.

Finalize Your COVID Policies

We’ve offered advice before on how to express your COVID etiquette to your guests, so be sure to check out that post! Determine what kind of health and safety precautions you’ll keep in place (for example, will you require wedding guests who have received a vaccine to wear masks?) and send this information to your attendees.

Include a Virtual Wedding

Finally, as spring approaches, be sure you book your virtual wedding so that anyone who can’t make it to the big day can still help you celebrate!
