How to Plan a Last-Minute Wedding

So you’ve decided to get married – like, right now. Planning a last-minute wedding is stressful, but SO exciting. Nothing like a time crunch to get people’s blood moving!

First order of planning a last-minute wedding: budget. This is no different than planning a regular wedding. With a last-minute wedding, you have some constraints that will probably save you from spending a lot, whereas other factors, you’ll have to be up-charged for expedited services. Overall, you should save money.

Secondly, craft your guest list. Chances are you’ll have to have a smaller wedding because of restraints with time…many guests won’t be able to make it without knowing far enough ahead, and you most likely won’t be able to secure a large enough venue to accommodate a huge guest list. Start small, then allow things to grow if you know you have the space, rentals and food.

Third is venue. Will this happen in your parent’s backyard? A park in town? On the beach? Wherever you might be interested in having it, double-check on whether you need permits, if there are noise ordinances, gathering ordinances, etc. You don’t want the police breaking up your ceremony in the middle of your vows…

Fourth, secure an officiant and marriage license. Someone must legally marry you (unless you’re heading to the courthouse, then you’re safe), and you need a marriage license to make it official! Make sure whoever you choose is ordained and able to marry you in your state.  Additionally, make sure you have your marriage license before your wedding day, and keep it somewhere safe. That’s the last thing you want to lose!

Everything after this, from your attire to food, is based on the above four. Once you have those things figured out, the rest should come easy. And rest assured, you might be planning a speedy wedding, but you’re looking forward to a lifetime of love. Enjoy every moment 🤍
