Five Reasons to Have A Virtual Wedding (Besides COVID)
Virtual weddings were on the rise because of COVID-19 restrictions, but many people have found it to be a great alternative for many other reasons. Below you’ll find a breakdown of five reasons why (other than COVID) you should have a virtual wedding.
1. Cost.
According to NerdWallet, the average wedding costs $33,900. That is a large amount of money for one day of your life. A virtual wedding can significantly cut down on costs. There’s no need to rent a venue, you can get married in your apartment or backyard. Minimal décor can spruce up your space without putting you in the red. Instead of catering for 100, you can do a personal chef for two post-ceremony. You can still buy the dress of your dreams because you’re significantly cutting costs in other areas. Your friends and family can still join your big day, without the major cost involved.
2. Time.
Maybe you don’t have time to plan a wedding, because most of us don’t. It can take a couple upwards of 300 hours to plan a wedding. With jobs, family, friends, animals and life to deal with, that’s a lot to plan and take care of. A virtual ceremony cuts down on the planning and simplifies the process.
3. Destination.
If you’ve always wanted to get married on the Amalfi Coast or a tropical Caribbean island, a virtual ceremony might be best for you. Most of your friends and family will not be able to attend a destination wedding, but with a live streaming option, they can!
4. Sustainability.
Many people are on the search for a more sustainable, “green” wedding. If you’re looking for ways to reduce, look at hosting it virtually. Without the excess a regular wedding would create and waste, you can go forward knowing you’re doing your best for the environment and still having a blast.
5. Personalization.
If you want a wedding that is just you and your partner, but still want others to see, a virtual wedding ceremony or reception might be the perfect option for you. Lots of people want to elope or have a more private ceremony without shutting out their family and friends. It’s difficult to cut them out, and with a virtual ceremony, you don’t have to. Physically, it’s just you and your person, with everyone else in attendance virtually. It’s the best of both worlds!
