Will Weddings Be Back to Normal in 2021?

Will weddings be back to normal in 2021? That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? After a full year of the pandemic, many engaged couples are wondering if their 2021 weddings will be “normal.”

With a quarter of the year already behind us and heavy restrictions still in place, the short answer is, “probably not.” But how far from normal will things be?

What the CDC Says

The CDC recommends that people who have been fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus should still take the same precautions as always when gathering in large groups – that is, utilize social distancing and wear a mask.

However, a recent update states that fully vaccinated people can safely gather with other fully vaccinated people without wearing a mask. That’s good news for weddings, especially those whose guests have been vaccinated, but there’s still a long way to go. As of the end of March, about 16% of the U.S. population has been vaccinated.

If you are inviting only fully vaccinated people to your wedding, then according to the CDC, things can proceed as relatively normal.

If you will have guests with differing levels of vaccination, then your 2021 wedding might still be a little different than what you might have expected, with masks and social distancing recommended.

Wedding Guest Counts in 2021

Many states are not yet back to allowing unlimited numbers of people to gather in one place. Those restrictions will be the biggest determining factor in your wedding guest count. Some states will allow larger gatherings outdoors than indoors, so an outdoor wedding might allow you to invite a larger number of guests.

The Bottom Line

We’re moving in the right direction when it comes to having “normal” weddings again, but we’re not there yet! Depending on how the rest of the year goes will change whether or not the end of 2021 will bring bigger weddings with more guests.

In the meantime, though, LoveStream can help all of your guests participate in your big day! Our virtual weddings allow for an unlimited number of viewers, and you can still invite your closest people to join you in person if guidelines allow.
