Surprising Ways to Save Money on your Wedding

We all love to splurge, but sometimes it’s time to save. Your wedding is usually one big splurge, so it’s best to save where you can. If you’re worried about the cost and looking for ways to work around a big credit card bill post-nuptials, we’ve got you covered! Check out the tips below:

1.     Off-Season, sans Saturday. Plan your wedding during the off-season (for most in the U.S. it’s May-September, unless you’re in a tropical climate that’s nice year-round!), and during the week. Venue prices are usually lower during these times, saving you some major bucks.

2.     Guard your Guest List. Guarding your guest list is important. Having a smaller list will save you money (because guests are undoubtedly the most expensive part of your big day). Keep your guest count low, and limit plus ones. Best rule with this? Married, engaged or living together, with the exception that they know no one else at the wedding, i.e. – your elementary school bestie you’ve kept up with all these years… she probably needs to bring her S.O.

3.     Find a Venue That Speaks for Itself. Finding a venue with natural beauty is a great way to save money! A few places that don’t need a lot of décor: botanical gardens, historical estates, beachfront venues and mountain overlooks! A good view, nice lighting, intricate design and built-in florals make it really easy to go light on décor, saving you major dollars.

4.     Rent It! Whatever it is – think about renting it. You can rent silk flowers from Something Borrowed Blooms, a cool white jumpsuit or chic midi and exciting accessories from Rent the Runway, and a classic tuxedo or suit from The Black Tux. Good rule of thumb: if it’s only usable for the day, and not a personal item (think a wedding dress, although plenty of people rent!) then it’s probably available to rent.
