Wedding Safety Precautions
Wedding season has officially changed for good. And while we are praying the coronavirus subsides sooner rather than later, the shifts that are occurring in gatherings are probably not going away any time soon or at all, for that matter. So, if you are going to tie the knot during these uncertain times and still bank on your guest list attending, make sure you do it with safety in mind. Here are a few precautions that we suggest to make sure your mother-in-law, your MOH, and your ring-bearer stay out of harm’s way.
KEEP THINGS OUTSIDE
We realize it is hotter than blazes out there in most states at this point in time, but if you can swing it, keep your ceremony and/or reception al fresco. Guests will have an easier time spreading out and keeping their distance from one another
GOOD, CLEAN FUN
No needs for succulents or mini bottles of olive oil during a worldwide pandemic. Instead, gift your guest with a wedding favor that can make use of during the wedding and beyond. Buy itty hand sanitizers in bulk and have your planner place them on each seat before the ceremony begins. Another good idea? Have a hand-sanitizer station!
SKIP THE BUFFET
We know everyone loves a buffet (us included) and shoveling as much goodness onto their plates as possible but when it comes to stopping the spread of germs and keeping distance, individual meals are more practical. Pre-packaged cutlery is also a must, as well as individual packets of salt and pepper. We know it goes against our nature, but try to stray away from communal.
DISTANCE DANCE
Unless you can actually keep guests six feet apart from one another, foregoing a dance floor may be your best option. Talking, singing, and sweating are acts that propel particles so it is best to steer clear. Instead, recommend guests partake in the “distance dance.” Giving it a quirky name may entice more guests that you know!
NOT BOTTOMS UP
This is a huge bummer but in the name of love, we gotta recommend it. Try and limit alcohol intake for guests as drinking too much can lower their guards and cause them to ignore any safety protocols you have put in place. Take the money you would have spent on an open bar and put it toward another aspect such as a carriage ride exit or an extra-fancy dessert.
WEAR A MASK
We hinted at this above when chatting about wedding favors, but make it a requirement that guests wear masks or face coverings. You could buy face masks in bulk and customize them with your wedding date and a cute saying. Perhaps “To Have and to Hold, and Keep Away a Cold.” Just make sure everyone that attends your wedding is wearing one as that is the best way to keep germs at bay.
If you have to limit your guest count to keep partygoers safe, don’t fret. Your guests will still have a fabulous time at a virtual wedding.
