8 Tips for your Fall Wedding
Fall is here! And a lot has changed over summer. But we won’t talk about that. Depending on what part of the world you are in, your fall wedding might look darn-near normal. For many others, their fall weddings will look a little smaller or they might even be hosting their wedding online (with us, obviously).
And that’s okay! If your wedding looks different than you thought it would when you started planning, you’re in good company. We know a lot of people joke about just calling 2020 a wash and moving on to 2021, but we think otherwise. Having a wedding this year is special. You’ve overcome so much. You’ve made it, and you’re about to be married! So, let’s skip the COVID talk for once, and just chat about some ways to make your fall wedding, whether it’s in your backyard or on a mountain top, extra special.
8 Tips for your 2020 Fall Wedding
1. Set the mood with music. What artists or albums give you fall vibes? Maybe it’s Taylor Swift’s new Folklore album, or throw it back with Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sam Cooke. Dare we say, blast some of Green Day’s Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Whatever screams fall to you, this is your time to set the cozy vibes with some easy listening.
2. Flavor the night. Skip the fancy salad dish and opt for a cozy curry or homestyle turkey dinner. Incorporate fall flavors into desserts like cinnamon, cloves, and pumpkin.
3. Drink and be married. Spiced apple cider, mulled wine, creamy horchata, hot chocolate for the kids (with some RumChata or vanilla vodka for the grown-ups?), and hot toddies are all perfect beverages for a fall wedding. If it’s chilly in your area and your wedding is outdoors, your guests will thank you for a warm cup to wrap their hands around.

4. Stay warm. Speaking of chilly regions, if your wedding is outdoors, add a cozy element to keep guests warm. Buckets of blankets, fire pits, and patio heaters are all great options.
5. Get creative with dessert. We mentioned earlier utilizing fall flavors in desserts, but pumpkin pie isn’t the only option! You could have a s’mores bar where guests can toast their own marshmallows, a caramel apple station, churros and ice cream, apple pie empanadas… the list goes on!
6. Autumn up your centerpieces. While flowers are a traditional centerpiece, consider other options like pumpkins, squash, and crunchy leaves.
7. Think beyond fall colors. Burgundy red, rusty orange, and golden yellow are quintessential fall colors, but they aren’t your only options. Consider incorporating other autumnal colors like sage green, creamy white, and jewel tones like amethyst, cobalt, and emerald.
8. Opt for an intimate affair. Okay, we said we’d drop the COVID talk today, but just in case your guest list had to be cut, it might not be a bad thing for a fall wedding. Whether your small guest list is by choice or by circumstance, it might make your autumn wedding feel cozy and intimate.
