Tips for a Wedding Live Stream Viewing Party
There are so many ways to celebrate a wedding! If a friend or relative is having a virtual wedding, you might be feeling a little bummed about not being able to attend in-person. But we have some good news: watching a wedding live stream isn’t like watching an episode of your fave TV show. It’s actually a ton of fun.
At our office in Charlotte, we love watching the weddings we produce – and we don’t even know the couple personally! One of the ways virtual guests have the most fun is by throwing a viewing party.
We talk a lot on this blog about being socially distant. With the pandemic, it’s been at the forefront of everyone’s minds. But that doesn’t mean there can’t be a safe way to get together to celebrate a wedding. If you are throwing a viewing party for your loved ones’ virtual wedding, just be sure to keep safety in mind and follow local gathering guidelines.
Why have a viewing party for a virtual wedding?
Honestly, if this pandemic has shown us anything, it’s that things are more fun when we’re together! While we might not be able to travel for a wedding, we can still make the most of the event by watching it via live stream with our closest friends and family.
Ideas for a Wedding Live Stream Viewing Party
Hook it up to the TV
There are a few ways to put the wedding live stream to the TV. If you have a smart TV, HDMI cable, or another way to cast the ceremony to the big screen, we highly recommend you do so. It will make the viewing experience so much more enjoyable, especially if you have a large crowd.
Start early, go late.
Have everyone arrive a few hours before the wedding live stream is scheduled to start. This will give the viewing party patrons plenty of time to mingle so that they are ready to take in the wedding when the ceremony starts. After the ceremony, celebrate by dancing, eating, or telling your favorite stories about the newlyweds.
Make it a potluck.
Just because you’re the event host, doesn’t mean you have to be responsible for providing all of the food. Consider having a potluck style event. Coordinate with attendees to see what everyone wants to bring. Have a theme if you want a cohesive meal or let everyone go wild!
Have A Signature Drink
Sure, you could do a BYOB event and have everyone fend for themselves, but why not take advantage of the day and have a signature beverage? Utilize fresh seasonal fruits or herbs to go all-in with your signature drink.
Get cozy.
Have you ever been to an in-person wedding that’s a little chilly? Or maybe the sun is beating down on your or the wind is blowing your hair in your face. You just have to sit there and deal with it until the ceremony is over. Thankfully with a virtual wedding, you have a lot more control over the elements. Make sure there is plenty of seating for all guests and blankets so everyone can get comfy.
Take lots of pictures.
You won’t be in the wedding photographer’s pictures at the event, so be your own event photographer. Be sure to take plenty of pictures to share with the couple later or post on social media using the couples’ wedding hashtag.
Sign the virtual guest book!
Of course, one of the most important aspects of hosting a virtual wedding viewing party is to ensure everybody signs the virtual guest book.
When you’re watching a wedding a LoveStream, you can sign their virtual guest book without ever leaving their page! You can even upload a photo of you and your crew watching their wedding live.
Have a micro dance party.
Sure, you probably won’t have a big dance floor at your viewing party, but that doesn’t mean you can’t strap on your favorite boogie shoes. If the couple has linked their wedding playlist on their live streaming page, you can use those tunes to make it feel like you’re at the actual wedding.
